Guest speaker topic: Proven Performers: The Garden MVP’s

Join Penn State Master Gardener Kevin Kelly for a lively, photo-filled tour of his four-season garden as he highlights the plants that have truly earned “Most Valuable Plant” status. Drawing on 30 years of gardening experience—filled with both successes and lessons learned—Kevin shares his top-performing plants that combine beauty, resilience, and ecological value. You’ll discover native and nonnative selections that thrive in home gardens, support pollinators, and provide color and texture throughout the year.

BIO: Kevin Kelly is a Penn State Extension Master Gardener who combines gardening science, experience, and passion to inspire others. His career as a Family Physician taught him the importance of gardening for both mental and physical well-being. Now retired, he enjoys volunteering as a garden educator and serving on the Pennsylvania Gold Medal Plant Selection Committee. A gardener for over 35 years, Kevin has learned that developing a “green thumb” is all about persistence and not being afraid to make mistakes. His one-third acre suburban property is a true four-season garden that has earned two Blue Ribbons for design from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and has multiple certifications as a native Pollinator and Wildlife Habitat Garden.
